Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a manual therapy that involves glass, plastic, or silicone cups that create a negative suction on the skin. At House Nine, we currently only offer Silicone Cupping.

What is it?

Cupping is an ancient modality that uses negative pressure through suction against the skin to relieve musculoskeletal pain, headaches/migraines, break up adhesions, and move stagnant energy. Systemic illnesses that have seen benefits from cupping therapy include hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus, systemic infection, and skin disorders.

What does it feel like?

In general, cupping is very relaxing. You will feel an immediate localized suction as your cups are applied. Your practitioner may apply the cups and leave them stationary or glide them along your body. The suction pressure can be modified based on preference, so please communicate with your practitioner if the suction is too intense. It is very common for cupping to leave bruising.
